Las nominaciones a los premios Oscar 2026 fueron anunciadas este jueves y confirmaron lo que durante meses fue objeto de especulación en la industria: Sinners, la nueva película del director Ryan Coogler, se consolidó como la gran favorita de la temporada. El filme obtuvo 16 nominaciones, estableciendo un récord histórico como la producción con más candidaturas en la historia de los premios de la Academia.
Hasta ahora, el máximo número de nominaciones correspondía a All About Eve, Titanic y La La Land, cada una con 14 menciones. Con esta marca, Sinners, una ambiciosa película de vampiros de autor, se instala como el título más nominado de todos los tiempos.
Muy cerca quedó One Battle After Another, de Paul Thomas Anderson, considerada hasta hace poco la principal contendora al premio a mejor película. El filme obtuvo 12 nominaciones, confirmando su fuerte presencia en la carrera al Oscar. En tanto, la producción noruega Sentimental Value, dirigida por Joachim Trier, alcanzó nueve candidaturas, mientras que Marty Supreme, de Josh Safdie, logró ocho, impulsada por la aclamada actuación de Timothée Chalamet, quien figura como favorito en la categoría de mejor actor.
Las nominaciones en las 24 categorías de los Premios de la Academia —incluida la nueva categoría de mejor casting— fueron anunciadas en una transmisión en vivo desde el Teatro Samuel Goldwyn de Beverly Hills. El anuncio estuvo a cargo de los actores Danielle Brooks, nominada al Oscar en 2024, y Lewis Pullman.
El cine internacional también tuvo una destacada presencia. Sentimental Value y la brasileña The Secret Agent fueron nominadas tanto a mejor película como a mejor película internacional, mientras que Joachim Trier obtuvo además una candidatura a mejor dirección. El protagonista de The Secret Agent, Wagner Moura, fue nominado a mejor actor, sumando así otro reconocimiento tras su reciente triunfo en los Globos de Oro.
La 98ª edición de los Premios Oscar, que será conducida nuevamente por el presentador y podcaster Conan O’Brien, se transmitirá el próximo 15 de marzo por TNT. Será una de las últimas ceremonias emitidas por la cadena, ya que a partir de 2029 la premiación migrará definitivamente al streaming a través de YouTube.
