La premiación siguen en pie.
Aunque el 2020 ha sido un año de muchos cambios que nadie pudo anticipar, hay algunos que se veían venir. Por ejemplo, los grandes competidores para los premios más importantes de la televisión ya no están.
Sin ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Fleabag’ ni ‘Veep’ en la carrera, los ganadores parecen menos obvios. La cantidad de producciones ha llegado a un récord de más de 500 series al aire y las postulaciones a la nominación aumentaron un 15%, según el New York Times, así que vale la pena detenerse a revisar quienes podrían ser los que se queden con la estatuilla.
Sin duda, ‘Watchmen’ es un protagonista. Tiene 26 nominaciones, incluyendo Mejor serie limitada, Mejor actriz principal, Mejor actor principal y 3 nominaciones a Mejor actor secundario. Los otros favoritos son ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ (20), ‘Succession’ (18) y ‘Ozark’ (18).
En la competencia entre Netflix y HBO, este año fue Netflix el que se llevó la mayor cantidad de nominaciones. Con ‘Ozark’, ‘The Crown’, ‘Dead To Me’,’ The Politician’ y ‘Stranger Things’ en la competencia, la compañía de streaming rompió el récord que su competidor estableció el año pasado (137) y se quedó con 160 nominaciones versus las 107 de HBO.
Jimmy Kimmel será el anfitrión del show en vivo, que por las condiciones de la pandemia, tendrán un formato y producción que aún es incierto. Los Emmy se celebrarán el domingo 20 de septiembre y se podrán ver por TNT.
